JACKET
History.

Tailoring has been known as a craftsmanship since the 1300s. At this time tailors made top and bottom garments, man stockings, jackets and sweaters. The materials were textiles of various kinds, which could be provided with trimmings and embroidery. To become a tailor a trainee had to make a piece of female or male clothing. Tailoring were one of the few craftsmanships that were acceptable in the country. Tailoring was one of the few employments that under the Copenhagen recess from 1537 were allowed in the country, where tailors made clothes for farmers. The tailors in the city worked at home or had a workspace, and the tailors in the country wandered around from farm to farm. The competition as a tailor was tough, and they belonged to the economically disadvantaged artisans. Then, as now, it was only a few of the tailors who came to work with the finest fabrics and creative design. Sedentary work also attracted physically weaker people, and its status was not always very high. Nevertheless, there was room for some social breakdown: Most significant was the masters who made uniforms and Royal Warrants. It was the highest status to be a "black companion", who sewed dresses. Then followed coat tailors, jacket tailors, and pants tailors. With the industrialization came the sewing machine, and tailoring changed from a craft to industrial occupation. Clothes and sewing factories took over most of the clothing production to the masses.
Sketches.

Moodboard.
My jacket is inspired by flowers, plants and botany. I think flowers can be really beautiful and there is something easy and simple about a plant such as a cactus or a palm tree. My jacket is a spring jacket and feels like warm and bright days.
